The Hays CISD Performing Arts Center (PAC) is a magnificent facility located in the heart of the school district, boasting a capacity of nearly 1000 people in the auditorium, a state-of-the-art sound and video system, and two conference rooms for meetings. The PAC serves as the stage for a variety of school district and campus events and performances, as well as being available for rent to the community and outside organizations. The goal of the program is to present a series of exhibitions that reflect the artistic excellence and cultural diversity of the Hays County metropolitan area, while also promoting the county's cultural and economic initiatives. The Cultural Arts Program at the Hays County Government Center offers an array of exhibitions that showcase local artistic efforts and encourage public dialogue, understanding, and appreciation of the visual arts. Organizations or individuals wishing to exhibit their work must submit a proposal to the Arts Committee for approval.
The organization or artist providing the work of art must submit it for an exhibition, along with all related components such as stands, descriptive summaries, and other informational material, as required in the loan agreement on the specified date. The County will take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of works of art on loan to them, but are not responsible for damage or theft, except in cases covered by their Fine Arts insurance policy. The Arts Committee may invite organizations or individuals to submit a proposal for an exhibition at the Government Center. Hays County does not receive commissions or compensation for works of art displayed at their Government Center. Works of art submitted in electronic format may be shown without audio portions at the discretion of the Arts Committee and as needed to carry out their business activities at the Hays County Government Center. Works of art that are exhibited at the Hays County Government Center during an exhibition will remain in place until its end, unless approved for early removal by the Arts Committee.
However, since it is not a gallery or museum, it is frequented by citizens with diverse opinions and backgrounds who are there to do business with the county. If they decide to appoint a selection panel, its members may include county staff and community representatives. Every organization or artist that lends works of art for display at the Hays County Government Center must submit a full loan agreement to the Arts Committee. The works of art exhibited in these public areas must be appropriate for an office environment and for public officials, county employees, and citizens who carry out business transactions in the building to view.
The Arts Committee may reschedule or cancel an exhibition at any time before its start date. The Hays County Performing Arts Center is a vibrant hub for cultural events in Central Texas.
